Use the tape measure and protractor

- [Instructor] This week I'm going to examine the tape measure and protractor tools which are adjacent here in the large tool set. You'll also find them as adjacent items in the tool menu up here. So you can access them this way on either platform. On the Mac there's also a tape measure tool on the tool bar at the top of the screen. So I'd like to start with the tape measure tool and turn this box into a little house with a gable roof. We'll start by making soffits on each side. First of all I'm going to make a guide along this edge. So I'm going to click somewhere along the edge, and then another point on the edge to make my first guide. Then I'll press the space bar. I'll orbit around and you can see that that guide goes off into the distance to the vanishing point. If you're in Parallel Projection mode, the guide goes infinitely off the screen and you'll never see the end of it no matter how you orbit. I'll go back into Perspective mode.
