- [Instructor] Something that, for me at least, often makes life difficult when creating materials, and textures in V-Ray for SketchUp is the lack of dedicated UV tools available in SketchUp itself, something that typically makes the placing of photographic textures and patterns on surfaces a bit of a hit and miss effect, which is why the new UV tools in V-Ray for SketchUp 3.6.03 are a very welcome addition. As you can see the render of our scene then we have some very simple spherical objects that have had a checkered pattern material applied to them. Clearly though the pattern isn't sitting too well at all on the surfaces with lots of seams or breaks in the materials flow being clearly visible. Watch what happens though if I just select one of the spheres in the SketchUp viewboard, right-click on it, and then from the V-Ray UV tools flyout choose the spherical projection world option, and then after selecting the checkerboard material in the assets editor, coming to the SketchUp…
