- [Instructor] Having seen how the overall diffuse and sub-surface color components work together in our material, let's take a look next at what some of the other controls bring to the table by first of all, taking a render using our reset sub-surface scattering material. Now, straightaway here, I am finding these blown out areas in the image very distracting and so, let's dial these down by first of all throttling back the RGB values on the surface by means of the overall color. Let's set this to a gray scale value of about 200 and then render again. What we get is much improved. The next thing we want to do is take a look at the specular controls given that the strong backlight we are using here is accentuating the reflective properties of the material. In the specular rollout then, let's pull the specular amount down to about 0.5 and again take another render.
