John Romeo uses the Offset tool in SketchUp to draw the perimeter of the skylight frame and make copies of the frame part with the Move tool while holding down the Control or Option key.
- [Instructor] Okay we're back and I have drawn…in the cross pieces to complete the frame.…And before we extrude the frame…in the top of the skylight,…I would like to draw the plexiglass in.…Which is going to be just a large piece around…the perimeter.…Not going to make it into pieces as…if it were sheets, just one, giant sheet of plexiglass.…So I'm going to select the line tool.…And click on, corner, and this corner,…corner three.…
And turned colors which means it's coplaner.…We'll click on that and we want to make this…into a component.…And name it skylight plexi.…Create…Now I want to just temporarily move it…off to the side.…So it's not interfering with extruding.…
So select the move tool.…And just drag it and constrain it to the red axis.…Right there…And now, at this time I think I could get rid…of all these guides.…Okay and I'm going to orbit.…
And start extruding.…And start with the perimeter frame.…And extrude that…to one inch.…And then the internal ones, this is going to be…a unique one so I'll have to extrude this individually.…
