Join George Maestri for an in-depth discussion in this video Project maps on curved objects, part of SketchUp 2016 Essential Training.
If you want to apply textures to a surface more accurately,…you may need to use projected textures.…So let's take a look at how this works.…I have this simple object with a curved surface.…And if I want, I can apply texture to it.…So let's go ahead through the process that we did before.…So I'm going to go into File, Import, and I'll select that…SoupLabel and make sure we're applying this as a texture.…
Select Import, and as you can see, this snaps to surfaces.…So I'm gonna go ahead and left click and drag until…that snaps to the height of this concave surface.…When I do, I get basically the same effect I had before,…where it only applies to part of the surface.…But, I can go into my materials window,…select that soup label and apply it.…And there we go.…
We have a pretty good effect.…So, as you can see, it's not centered,…so it's just mapped from the corner and as you can see,…it's overlapped.…So, if we want this to be a little bit more precise,…and want to center it,…we can use a projection to do that.…So I'm going to go ahead and undo my way out of this.…
