Roof slope can be specified either in degrees or in terms of rise and run in SketchUp. In this tutorial you learn to model the roof and its overhangs.
- [Instructor] We're going to model the roof in this video.…Press L for line and draw a line…from the corner of the building over in the red direction…such that the line overshoots the building…then press the Space bar to go to the Select tool.…Select the line you just drew…and then go to the Rotate tool.…Let's rotate this line in the green direction…so put the cursor on this header, hold the Shift key down…to lock that direction,…and then click on the corner point of the wall…to establish the access of rotation.…
Then click a point over here to pick up the line…and you can see now that it's rotating in this plane.…Now I'm not sure exactly what angle I'd like this to be…but I am aware that I want the roof…to have a three in 12 slope.…So I'll type 3:12 + Enter…and SketchUp will calculate the angle for me.…Next, press L for line.…Draw a line from the midpoint in this group,…up in the blue direction and then click…where it intersects with the edge, press the Space bar,…select this edge and then delete it…by pressing the Delete key, press L for line,…
