- [Instructor] Whilst the material types that we have in V-Ray for SketchUp clearly have a huge role to play in the quality of the renders that we produce, it would probably be fair to also say that the map types that we have are equally as important, especially now that V-Ray 3 has brought some extremely powerful new options to the table, such as the triplanar map for instance that we will be looking at later in the chapter. The way that we access maps in V-Ray for SketchUp is very straightforward in that with the material selected in the asset editor, we just click on one of the map buttons and instantly gain access to all of the maps available in V-Ray. Now even though we have accessed these through the diffuse channel on our generic material here, that doesn't mean to say that all of the maps that we could choose from will necessarily be what we want to use for the diffuse option.
