Environment Fog
- [Instructor] One of the features highlighted in chapter nine of our SketchUp Rendering with V-Ray 3 course was the ability that had been added to the engine to use aerial perspective and atmospheric effect that simulates the effect of particulate matter in the atmosphere and its subsequent effect on the environment as light becomes more scattered. Now one of the limitations of aerial perspective that we did highlight in that video was the fact that it couldn't produce genuine atmospheric effects because it couldn't render genuine volumetric shadows. And whilst that limitation does still exist, we actually have a new atmospheric tool that can produce volumetric shadows, this being the environment fog, which resides inside a new roll out found in the settings section of the asset editor entitled volumetric environment where we find both the default aerial perspective and the new environment fog tools.
