Learn how to draw freehand and curved shapes in SketchUp 2016. In this video, George shows how to use the Freehand tool to draw smooth lines, then shows several tools used to create curved arcs. These tools include the Arc Tool, the 2 Point Arc tool and the 3 Point Arc tool. These tools can be used separately or together to create a variety of shapes.
- [Instructor] Now let's move away…from straight lines for a bit…and show you how to do freehand lines…as well as curves.…Now the freehand tool allows you to draw…really any shape that you want.…Now you can find this under draw, lines, freehand.…Or if we go into the toolbar here…it's this icon here in this pull down menu.…Now when I select this it gives me a pencil icon…with a little squiggly.…And that tells me we're drawing freehand.…This tool is really easy to use.…
All you have to do is left click and drag.…And you can draw whatever shape you want.…Now one of the things about the freehand tool…is that it will create straight line segments.…Now this looks like it's a curved line…but if you zoom in a little bit…you'll see that it's really comprised of…all of these little straight lines.…And that gives you a hint…as to how SketchUp actually works.…There are no curved lines in SketchUp.…Any curve that you draw will actually be…a collection of straight lines that approximate a curve.…
And this is important moving forward,…
