In this video, the Eraser tool in SketchUp 2016 is discussed. The Eraser tool allows lines to be cleanly deleted out of the 3D scene. The video discusses how the Eraser tool is the preferred workflow for removing detail in SketchUp and the differences between using the Eraser tool and hitting the delete key.
- [Narrator] Another way to add detail…to your sketch up models is to use the offset tool.…Now the offset tool basically just takes a face…and offsets that to create an outline.…So let's take a look at how this works.…Now we can find the offset tool under Tools.…The hotkey for this is the letter "F."…And we can also find it here on our tool bar.…Now all we have to do to use the offset tool…is highlight a face and then click and drag.…
So here I have a simple house with some doors and windows…but let's go ahead and use the offset tool…to create some frames for these details.…So with the offset tool, all I have to do is hover over…one of the doors or windows and highlight that face.…And then I can left click and drag.…And notice how we can get an outline.…Now that outline can go outside of the window…or inside of the window.…Now I'm going to make this one go outside.…
And then we can also type in a distance.…So notice in the bottom right hand corner…is the distance of that offset.…And let's go ahead and make this a 4" offset.…
