Best practices for applying materials
- [Instructor] When learning to use the paint bucket tool, it can feel instinctual to click on a material thumbnail and then click on your group to apply it. And you may think, "Hey, great, "I found a really cool shortcut, "I painted the whole thing at once, "now I can carry on with my 3D modeling." But this is actually going to cause some problems for you down the line. We've actually just painted the wrapper of the group and not the actual faces even though it has the appearance of being painted with that material. If I double click into this group, and then double click into my seat cushion here, I can see that these faces in my Entity Info window still have the default material applied to them. So that's going to cause a couple of problems down the line. As we go to edit this, it's going to start acting a little bit funky. As I apply another material from the outside, it may switch over to a previous material and…
