- [Instructor] As pretty much everything in the world around us has at least some level of reflectivity as a part of its surface properties, it seems highly likely that when wanting to create realistic looking materials, we will spend at least some time working inside the reflection controls of the generic material. In this exercise then, we're going to take a look at adding some reflectivity to the basic diffuse material that we created in the previous exercise, and we will also look at how we then go about reducing the glossiness or shininess of the material so as to create a perhaps more believable looking surface. Adding basic reflectivity to the material is as straightforward as it gets really in that all we need do is alter the gray scale value of the reflect color swatch that we see here, which is essentially our reflection strength control. Black, so essentially a value of zero, equals no reflectivity, whilst white or a value of one, gives us full reflectivity. To show how…
