Join Paul J. Smith for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding the horizontal mortar, part of SketchUp for Architecture: Details (2015).
So in chapter 3-09 we're going to be adding the…horizontal mortar to the block work.…3-10 we'll be adding the perpendicular mortar…to the block work and we'll use an outliner quite alot…in this process.…I wanted to show you how flexible outliner can be.…Now as these are components we have to make some…of these unique and make adjustments them…so we can stretch out to this point for some of them…and we're going to have to reduce some as well…down to this line.…So let's start by copying the below ground mortar group…to the above ground and we'll rename it…through the outliner.…
Now you notice the outline is getting a bit full.…We'll tell you that up as well later on.…So we'll come down to the bottom…and we've got below ground block mortar.…We select that.…I just selected all that mortar.…So it's coming around the corner at that point.…Difficult to see, but with that selected…we can use the move tool.…And if we pick maybe the bottom corner of this block…and then tap the control key to make a copy of it…and if you're using a Mac it's the alt or option key.…
