Video duration: 0s 27m 1s Appropriate for all

Product design sketches should be technically accurate as well as aesthetically pleasing—even when it's a part as complicated as a Formula 1 steering wheel. Veejay Gahir shows you how to render a design in SketchBook Pro using this complex example: from importing reference images and the initial outline to adding shading, highlights, and feature lines with tools like Flood Fill, Lock Transparency, and various brushes. Veejay also walks you through how to add text to your design and export the final work as a JPEG file.

- [Voiceover] Hello, I'm Veejay Gahir, and welcome to Sketching and F1 Wheel using Sketchbook Pro, the goal of this course is to give you an appreciation of what factors influence products, and how designers and engineers work together to create a robust, manufacturable, and aesthetically pleasing part that is true to the initial concept. Even though we will be using an F1 wheel for this course, the topics we will cover can be applied to automotive and consumer products alike. We will start by creating an initial outline, and then moving to add details like highlights and decals to complete the concept.

Next, I will show you how to utilize features like flood fill and lock transparency, to add highlights and feature lines to various components. Finally, we will export the finished sketch as a JPEG, so that it can be used as an image plane in another application like Maya. We'll be covering all of these features plus many other tools and techniques, so lets get started with sketching an F1 wheel in Sketchbook Pro.
