Grids and information density

- [Instructor] Grids allow for organization in the user interface and dictates information density. Grids make up the basic layout of your site, and relates to the overall structure and navigation of the experience. For more depth on structure, check out my other course on interaction design for structure. The grid is made up of squares with units of measure that can be in pixels, points or percentages depending on what you're designing and for which framework. The unit of measure for the grid will be defined by how dense the information is on the page. The grid is the basic square that makes up the structure, combined with columns that separate content from each other with spacing in between, called the gutter. The gutter gives us white space and consistent spacing between content areas. The number of columns are based on the basic unit of measure of each grid square.
