- When my daughter was 18 months old, she went over to a television and tried to swipe to turn it on. My kids, and those born in 2007 and later, are all in a new generation called Gen Alpha. Brands today are actively designing and marketing for kids twelve and under, and these kids are responding. Showing us what power players they are, not only in the future, but also today. While we may not know exactly how this generation will turn out in a decade or two, here are three trends to keep in mind right now when designing for this young demographic. When you look at the world that Gen Alpha is growing up in, this generation will be the most educated, most gadget-savvy, and wealthiest generation ever. They likely won't start having children until at least 13 years after they graduate from high school, and on top of that, one in three Gen Alpha women won't ever have children.
