- Ensuring that software is consistent and easy to maintain are two of the biggest challenges faced by larger organizations. Companies often have multiple teams working in silos at different levels of maturity, which can lead to wasted time and an inconsistent user experience. Fortunately, design systems can solve these problems. Hi, I'm Anne Grundhoefer. I'm a senior UX designer at projekt202, and I'm focused on unifying and scaling design systems through portable, reusable components.
Design systems are containers for institutional knowledge. They provide tested and proven solutions to design problems. When these solutions are held together by a consistent visual language and UX guidelines, they represent what good design looks like for the organization or platform. In this course, I'll share insight into the process, design, and the tools used to create a design system. I'll focus on the design, rather than the development of the components, using nested symbols with sketch to create reusable patterns.
In the end, you should be able to identify, prioritize, and create an efficient set of patterns for your team. While the initial period of designing and developing a pattern library may take some investment, the benefits that follow will save you and your team time, money, and improve the user experience. Let's get started.
