Avoiding guerrilla field traps
(upbeat music) - All right, you did it! You successfully walked up to a stranger and asked them to be in your UX session. (sigh of relief) Congrats! But you're not quite off the hook yet. Just because you're going guerrilla, you still need to follow best practices. In the field, you have to be especially careful to make your research participants comfortable. You don't have much time to build a rapport, and even the most outgoing person is going to be a little unsure of what to expect. Tell them right away how long you want to talk and what sort of questions you'll ask. Hey, so I'm Amanda, I'm going to ask you just a couple of questions about your breakfast routine. Should take about five minutes. - Hmm, uh-huh. - Pay extra attention to participants' comfort. Ask if it's okay to record the sessions or have someone else take notes, so that you can make eye contact and read their body language.
