Showing tooltips

The ToolTip is ubiquitous in modern UI. You see these floating information windows when you hover over something interesting. Silverlight has the ToolTipControl and the ToolTipService class. Of the two it is most common to use the ToolTip Service to add a ToolTip to the control. In this demonstration, I will use Visual Studio and a project called ShowingToolTips. I'll start by looking in AddToolTips, which has a picture and a button. When you look at the XAML from the image control, you see that there is no ToolTip specified. Let's fix that. Start typing in my XAML, this attached property called ToolTipService. and then ToolTip.

This is the string that I want to show up in my ToolTip. I'll run the application by pressing F5. Click on the Adding ToolTips, and then hover my mouse over this picture, and there is the default look for a ToolTip. Notice that it is placed wherever my mouse is on the screen.
