Understanding Magnetic Layout

- [Instructor] One of the more advanced features in the Layout tab that's worth having a deeper discussion about is magnetic layout. So an entire group in the Layout tab is devoted here to magnetic layout. There's also a button within that tab labeled Magnetic Layout, which toggles the feature on and off. If the button is bright yellow, it's on. If it's gray, it's off. Magnetic layout is like an autopilot setting for layout and formatting in Sibelius. Think of it as an anti-collision feature. The system that Sibelius uses to avoid all clashes between all objects within a score. It's often heralded as a great tool for beginners to help them achieve the best score alignment, layout, and formatting with minimal effort. If you turn magnetic layout on and off repeatedly, and if you watch closely, you'll see objects changing positions to move out of the way of one another.
