- [Instructor] Now that you have an idea about what properties make up an instrument in Sibelius, you'll have a much greater understanding about what it means to make an instrument change. You can use an instrument change in Sibelius when you have a part that requires a player to double on a secondary instrument. You may sometimes ask the alto saxophone to double on flute, for example. An instrument change allows you to create a single part on one staff that changes between the properties of two or more different instruments. You can use an instrument change in Sibelius to change from any instrument to any other instrument. There are no exclusions or exceptions. You can even change from an instrument reading a five line pitched treble clef staff to an instrument reading a one line un-pitched percussion staff.
