Join Jenny Amaya for an in-depth discussion in this video Challenge overview, part of Sibelius Ultimate 2019 Essential Training: Beyond the Basics.
- [Instructor] This course includes a few video exercises called challenges. Challenges are activities that give you a hands-on opportunity to practice and master what you're learning. I'll start each challenge by describing your core objectives for the activity. If the challenge involves using any sample files, I'll tell you where to find them. For the first challenge in this course, creating a lead sheet, there will be a downloadable file that contains the printed notation for you to copy into Sibelius and text files with lyrics in them for you to input into Sibelius as well. I'll give you a rough estimate of how much time it would take me to complete the challenge, and then you can give it a try for yourself. When you've completed the first challenge, make sure to click on the matching solution video. In the solution, I'll show you how I solve the challenge, and I'll give you some of my thinking and insight along the way. Our second challenge will take place throughout the second portion of the course. You'll be choosing some preexisting music to work with and transforming it into your own using some of Sibelius's transformation plugins and other features. You'll be working with your own personal challenge file from that point forward. Although, if you have access to the course files, I'll be saving mine and providing them to you along the way. Completing the challenges is a way for you to master the techniques you've been learning throughout the course, so I encourage you to give them a try.
