- [Instructor] Shopify is a lot more than just a website building platform. It provides you with the opportunity to deliver marketing messages and stay in constant communication with current, past and present customers. When used effectively this can help you to increase the overall profitability of your Shopify business. I want to show you how you can utilize some of the email notification settings within Shopify. If you go all the way down to the bottom left and click on settings, you can actually edit your notification messages. For example your order confirmation message is an email that is automatically sent to your customers once they place an order. If you click on it you can preview the message that your customers will be sent. It also gives you the option to edit this confirmation message. Maybe there's a call to action that you would like your customers to take, whether that be to explore some additional products on your website. You can add this information down here. You can also include liquid variables. These help to personalize your order confirmation emails. You can also edit the SMS messages that your customers are sent, this could be an option if your customers decide to leave their mobile phone number on your website when placing an order. Let's look at some of the other confirmation messages and why they are important. The abandoned cart email is a really important one. Before you make any edits you want to go and check out your checkout settings. Here, you can edit your abandoned cart settings. Make sure that you've selected to email subscribers who abandoned their checkout. This means that if someone gets to your checkout but does not make a purchase, you can email them later on down the line to bring them back to your checkout. This can help you to avoid costly sales that haven't yet gone through. You can select how long after this sale that they will receive the email. Going back, you can also edit this email as well to entice your potential customers to go and complete their purchase. As well as this you can use the apps feature within Shopify and you can search for your email marketing provider. You should be able to find your email marketing provider by typing the name of your provider in here. If you can't find your email marketing provider within Shopify then it will be best to check the help section for your email marketing provider's website and they should give you information on how you can connect your Shopify store to their email marketing service. Lastly, I want to show you how you can export your emails from Shopify, if you go to customers you can then see all of your customers and you can see your email subscribers as well. You can also see your customers who've abandoned your checkout. If you would like to export this information you can click on the export button and Shopify will send you this information to your email. Exporting your customers gives you the opportunity to upload that data to your email marketing provider. You can also utilize that information when doing remarketing on platforms such as Facebook if you would like to advertise on Facebook and Instagram. When creating advertisements on these platforms they sometimes allow you to create custom audiences where you can upload the data of your customers and only promote and advertise to your past customers. You can also make use of the look alike audiences feature as well and this will allow Facebook and Instagram to find customers who are similar to those who are on your customer list and this could be a great way to market your Shopify store. Having a successful Shopify store is a lot more than just making sales. It's all about building a great relationship with the people who become your loyal customers. Email and SMS marketing provide great opportunities for you to reach new customers, communicate, and upsell to your current customers.
