Why use a shoulder rig?
- Hey there, I'm Robbie Carmen. - And I'm Rich Harrington. - And this week, Rich, we're gonna talk about shoulder rigs. Now it kinda looks like I have a bazooka on my shoulder here. - Yeah, I feel under-qualified here. - Yeah. Here's the thing about shoulder rigs. They're a way to get stable with your camera system, and the rig that I have here is obviously a pretty full-featured rig: I have a follow-focus, I have these great handles from Wooden Camera, I have a big base plate, I have a grip down here, I have an EVF. I can really customize this rig with a lot of accessories, a lot of different positions for things. I can do counter-balancing. But the point is the same as the rig that you're holding there that looks much more simple. - Here I've got the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, which is a really tiny camera. It's so light that if I hold this, no matter what I do, I get shake, and when you compound that with the fact that the smaller sensor tends to lead to a higher crop factor…
