Using discreet cameras and camerawork
- Depending on what you wanna shoot and how stealthy you have to be, a very small and less obvious HD camera like a GoPro HERO cam, Blackmagic Pocket camera, or even your iPhone might be just the perfect solution for a quick bit of inconspicuous shooting. All of these little cameras can be used with mini tripods, or my favorite for tiny cameras, those flexible little gorilla pods. Set your camera menu, record color bars, and do a test recording before you even get out of the car. Make sure you disable the red recording tally light, and turn off the recording beep in the menu. If you can't find this in the menu, you can always just tape it over with a piece of Gaff tape. Next, make sure you preset your white balance, iris, and audio to manual auto as you'd like them for the scene. Depending on the shooting circumstances and the scene, you may also wanna use auto focus if there's sufficient lighting and you trust the auto focus function on your camera.
