Shooting in portrait mode
- Another option when shooting green screen is to actually orient the camera into portrait mode. Now, that might seem strange for video, and, normally, we wouldn't shoot this way because it's going to give us a weirdly composed shot, but, for purposes of green screen, you don't really need the background. What I have here is a panoramic head from Really Right Stuff and it's taken this ability to sort of offset from the tripod head with a bar and I take this next piece here and this attaches and now instead of mounting the camera to a flat surface, I've got a vertical surface. This is going to work really well because it gives me the ability to adjust the camera. Now, I'm using a plate on the bottom of the camera here. You'll see that what we've got going on is just a standard arca swiss type mount. These are readily available for all sorts of cameras and we can connect that.
