Putting LUTs to use on set
- So Rich, obviously we can use LUTs in a variety of different ways. We can use them, or create them in the field with an app like Adobe Hue. We can use them in post-production with Premiere Pro and After Effects and Davinci Resolve. We can even manipulate and sort of visualize LUTs with a tool like Lattice. And I think it's kind of a given that LUTs are kind of perceived as a post-production thing, but they have a lot of uses in the field, as well. - Yeah, what I like is that, if I'm out in the field, shooting a log or shooting with a flat color space, I can apply them during the shoot. Now, there's a couple different ways to go about that. Here, I have a Shogun. And this is a digital recorder, we've used this on some of our past episodes. And it gives you the ability to apply the lookup table, for monitoring purposes only, or if you want you can actually apply it right to the footage.
