Packing your gear for air travel
- One of the more exciting or more stressful aspects aspects of shooting video, depending on how you feel about it, is air travel. It's exciting, often because you're going to some interesting place or event to shoot something fun, but the stress comes from wondering if your precious equipment is going to make it all the way through to the other end safely. So I want to give you a few tips to take some of the stress out of traveling with equipment. First up, let's talk about packing for air travel. One of the biggest things that can take the stress out of air travel with equipment is investing in good hard cases. Pelican cases, which come in all shapes and sizes, are an industry favorite. They're a little pricey, but they're also rock-solid, and they last forever, and they're very tough. You can get custom pick-and-pluck foam on the inside, or you can go with the modular Velcro dividers. I think the foam offers a little more protection than the dividers, but the dividers offer more…
