Mounting a camera to the rearview mirror
- Now, sometimes, we're going to want to get a clamp inside the car, and there's a lot of choices for this. One of the ones I really like is this Jaws Clamp from GoPro. Now, what's kind of cool about it is it has an articulating arm. You can actually find these in different lengths of the arm. This particular clamp is really good for going right onto the rear view mirror. In fact, you can clamp this onto the rear view mirror and then angle this so you can actually shoot into the rear view mirror to get a cool reflection shot. We actually took a look at some of these types of things in our GoPro course, all about shooting a moving vehicle. So you'll want to check that out here on lynda.com. Another one that I love, and there's lots of options like this, this is often called a baseball hat mount. This is designed to clip up onto the brim of a baseball cap or onto a belt loop. It's perfect for the visor shade. It allows you to clamp it on and then this easily rotates allowing you to get great coverage in the car. So you can clamp but then have a easily to position rotation here, which is going to make it really simple to pull off the shot. These are two devices that are dirt cheap, work great with GoPro cameras, and there are other options for mounting onto these. And I'll show you some other types like this that are similar, that'll work with higher end cameras like DSLRs. But, for now, let's position these into the car and get some cameras rigged up.
