- One of the most effective things you can do to make your film shine like the pros is to incorporate some smooth, steady, and artful moving footage. Beyond mere pans, tilts, and zooms, I'm talking about using higher-end filmmaking tools like sliders, dollies, stabilizers, and jibs. The reason we have to step up the tools we use is because the operative word here is "smooth." Using any of these fancy filmmaking tools will cost you considerably more time, effort, and likely money, but if you pull it off smoothly, it's easily some of the greatest production value bang for your buck you can get.
