Faking sunlight
Now I want to talk about supplementing and faking daylight. The sun is one of the best sources of light that you could ever work with; it's beautiful, natural and organic. But, there's one problem, it does what it wants to do, and you can't always control it. So because you can't control it, we can bring in artificial lights to supplement the sun or create sunlight anytime a day. Even if it's night time, I could easily recreate a scene, so that it will look just like it was morning or midday afternoon if I had the right tools. And, the right tools in this case is a HMI light. Now, the HMI light, if you don't know what that is, is a powerful type of daylight balance light. I have one sitting right outside the window here. If you'll notice the scene behind me, it's actually a very overcast day and there's no natural sunlight coming in the window whatsoever.
