In this movie I'm going to go over some important menu settings to check before you shoot. The very first thing I recommend that you do when you pick up any camera before a shoot is to thoroughly check the menu settings. I know this is by no means the sexiest part of the camera, but there are some crucial settings in any video camera menu that can make for some big headaches in postproduction or even during shooting, if you're not familiar with what your camera is doing to your image under the hood. Most video cameras you will use, including many at the consumer level, will have a variety of video formats that you can choose to shoot in. This is a very first setting you should check in the menu. It's important to know what video format you are shooting in, because video format will have the greatest effect on the overall quality of your captured image.
