Capturing time-lapse video with a disk recorder

- You know, Rich, I think there's a common misnomer, to shoot time lapse you have to record in the camera, and that's not necessarily true. Of course you need the camera for the optics and the sensor, and all that kinda stuff, but these days, hard disk recorders like this Atomos Assassin are very popular and they allow you to pipe out video from your camera and do a myriad of all sorts of things, from monitoring and things like waveform monitoring and focus peaking and all that kind of stuff, and of course, a much larger image to see your shot, but they also allow you to do time lapse. - Yeah, and this is cool because it gives you that flexibility to take an older camera, or maybe a traditional video camera, and repurpose it. So we're just pumping HDMI out here from a Sony a7r2. It's a 4k signal coming in, and if I just tap here on the actual format, it brings up a record format menu where it tells me what's going on, and what I want to do, okay, that's fine, we're recording ProRes…
