- You know Rich, when it comes to audio obviously we can split the signal so we can hear and get things in at the same time but what do we do about the actual microphone, what's our best bet? - Well there's a couple of choices. If you're running around an event I'd go with one of your standard DSLR cold shoe mount type mics, like that. - What makes these interesting compared to a traditional shotgun that you might find on a professional video camera is the connection itself. It's just a stereo 8th inch jack that's going to plug into our splitter or directly into the device. You're not gonna have good luck with an XLR-type shotgun without having to adapt it and do some gymnastics with the cabling to make that work. So these DSLR-specific ones are the ones you're gonna wanna go after. - Yep, and I can plug in, I'm able to hear things, definitely working.
