- Okay so Rich, we've talked about a couple of different audio options. Obviously we've talked about splitting the signal so we get our headphones and the mic attached. We've talked about the shotgun, we've talked about the lav. But you know what, I have a large collection of professional mics. What do I mean by a "professional mic"? - It probably has an XLR connection, and it probably needs a power source, which this has neither. - There's lots of ways you can go about this. You can have a separate recorder using a professional mic, you can go through an audio mixer and pump it out over an eighth inch stereo jack.
