What you need for this course

- [Instructor] There's not much you need to work along with me in this course. You'll need to have a Yammer account. If your organization has already provided one, that's great. And if you've spent a little time in Yammer, better yet. If you don't have access to a Yammer account, you can set one up. You need to have an organizational email address, an email address that ends in .com, .edu, .gov, .biz, .info, something like that, but not one of the web mail services. Yammer is for organizations, so you can't get a Yammer account with a Live.com, or Gmail, or Hotmail, or Yahoo, or AOL, or any other flavor or mail that's not a company or organization email. But provided you have either a Yammer account or an organizational email address to set one up, from Yammer's point of view, you're ready. And if you need to set up your own Yammer account, go to www.yammer.com, and do that. The next two items you need are optional, but important. Yammer is collaboration software, so you should have someone to collaborate with. If you are setting up your own account for Yammer, for example, then invite a couple of team members, and pull them in as well, because you won't really understand what Yammer can do for you if you're working solo. That's true in an organization as well. If you are joining an organization that already has Yammer established, make sure you jump in and begin working with your colleagues with Yammer. Finally, I'll be using some files, uploading files, working with them, and you might want to have some too. I'd suggest that you have a Word document, a PowerPoint presentation, and a PDF that you're willing to use for this purpose so that when I'm uploading a PowerPoint presentation, for example, you can do the same. If you have a couple of images or videos, we'll have uses for those as well.
