- Hi, my name is Sahil Malik and welcome to SharePoint Framework Understanding the Toolchain. SharePoint Framework or SPFX for short is the consistent dev story between on premises and SharePoint online. Finally a dev methodology that Microsoft is using themselves and asking us to use. It is also built using the modern development toolchain. The modern development toolchain involves topics like Node.js, npm gulp typescripts. SAS, webpack, Yeoman and more. A conventional SharePoint developer may not be familiar with such concepts which is why I put this course together. This topic introduces you to the basic underlying skills, the toolchain that you as a SharePoint Framework developer needs to master before you can dive into the details of SPFX. Certainly if you're already up to speed with these concepts, feel free to jump to the end of this course where I show you how you can set up your dev machine for SPFX. I am thrilled to finally see a good modern dev story for SharePoint and can't wait to dive into the details. I hope you enjoy watching this course.
