- [Philip] Hi and welcome to this course on data management in SharePoint. My name is Phil Gold. I'm a longtime training and communications professional who has experienced SharePoint from both sides, as a user and as an instructor. I've got first hand knowledge of some of the dos and don'ts in SharePoint online. During this course, we're going to explore ways to improve your data management practices overall. Now, we'll be talking specifically about how this looks in SharePoint, but before we get to that, we're going to get a little bit philosophical about data, itself.
I'm going to start the course by discussing how we store data online and introduce the idea of metadata. We'll then look at how SharePoint is often misused today and what the causes of that typically are. After that setup, we'll get down into some of the nitty gritty and start making changes in SharePoint that take advantage of built-in functionality. So, with no further delay, let's get cracking.
