It's very common that at some point you'll mess up the Master Page that you're working on.…And that's no big deal if you're working on a copy, but if you are directly…changing the Default.master Master Page on the WSS Site, well, if you break the…Master Page, you have broken the site.…So here I'm working with a CustomizeDefault.master.…I can tell it's customized by the blue icon.…Let's say I was starting to rip this page apart.…Well, you'll find that there are some content placeholders that are kind of optional.…I am going to rip out this one here, which is the PlaceHolderGlobalNavigation…Site map, just cut that and Save.…
Go back over here to my Team Site and watch this link up here as I refresh the page.…Was there, now, it's gone.…This thing didn't blow up though.…So some things are kind of removable in the sense.…You can do a lot of playing around with these Master Pages.…Let's say I come down a little further, and I'm feeling kind of emboldened by this.…I'm going to grab another placeholder, which is the search area, delete that, click Save.…
