- So the first thing I'm gonna do is create a site collection. I'm gonna go into my SharePoint server here. I'm gonna go to "Manage web applications." And I just wanna point out that I've got the "Central Administration" web application, and I've also got the SharePoint 80 default web application, which has the addess http://sp/. And what I need to do is put a site collection here, so I'm gonna click "Application Management" "Create site collections," and that is the web application, the correct one. I'm gonna call this "Main Site." I'm gonna scroll down and then the URL, I'm gonna click the drop down menu, and I'm actually gonna choose the explicit manage path, which is the root there. I'm gonna choose the template as the default the "Team Site" for the top level site of the site collection. And then I'm gonna add myself, "SPAdmin," as the primary site collection administrator.
