This video shows how SharePoint lists are a strong alternative to Excel spreadsheets. Spreadsheets are very familiar to people, and a good way of performing complex calculations. But many times spreadsheets contain data rather than numbers—which means they are often easily replaceable by lists in SharePoint.
- [Man] Up to this point, we've been talking…more or less abstractly, but let's start…working in SharePoint so we can see real…life examples of how this all works out.…The first thing we'll delve into…is using lists in SharePoint to store…and work directly with information…instead of using spreadsheets that…are saved to a document library.…Here's that spreadsheet we've been working with.…Like we said before, fairly straightforward, right?…Now, look at this.…This is the same information which I've recreated…in a SharePoint list.…
Let's poke around here for a minute.…Although this looks fairly innocuous,…there's some slick things happening out of sight.…What happens if I add another record?…Well, is it easy to input information?…Absolutely, click the new item icon.…By the way, just a quick mention.…I'm using the classic view for this list…because it's a little easier to point things out,…but I actually created this in the new experience.…Both work.…So here's the input form for one record.…
This is stock out of the box.…
