- [Instructor] Now so far I have told you the purpose of the field customizer, which is to be able to take over the rendering of any particular field in a list or more than one lists. I also walked you through the structure of the field customizer project. But there is one very important detail that I skipped over. The detail that I skipped over is how does my field customizer know that it needs to edit this percentage field and say not the title field? Well, actually, that information is embedded inside of the elements.xml file. So in the elements.xml file, you see that I have name, display name, so this is a very important point. The name here is the name of this field. However, the display name is the internal name of the share point column that my field customizer will target. So the internal name of percentage is percentage, so it'll look for a column called percentage, and as long as our column is present on the page that this is running on, it will kick in this logic, and in…
