- [Narrator] While I can view a document that was created in Excel 97 or Powerpoint 2003, I can't edit those compatible versions of documents. If you saved a document in compatibility view so that someone using Word 2000 can open it, you won't be able to edit it directly in Yammer, regardless of the tool that you're using. Let's see how this works. For example, this Kineteco employees document is backwardly compatible. It's not XLS. Not .xlss. If I click to open it, I can view it in Excel Online, no problem whatsoever. If I choose to edit it, and I edit it Excel, that's going to work. Excel has no problem dealing with the compatible versions. And neither does Word and PowerPoint. Where I have an issue is when I attempt to edit it using Excel Online in the browser. And I'll get this dialogue that will give me two different choices. One choice is to have Excel Online create a copy of this workbook. I can then edit the copy. The original will still be there, but my document library will…
