Join David Rivers for an in-depth discussion in this video Defining the Welcome page, part of SharePoint 2007 Essential Training.
- [Instructor] In a previous lesson,…when we were working with WSS sites,…we talked about how you can tailor the look and feel…of a SharePoint environment…by using templates and logos and changing site themes.…Well, in MOS 2007, you've got additional…look and feel management tools at your fingertips…that give you a little more control…over the layout of your SharePoint environment.…There's things like defining a custom welcome page,…you can restrict site and page templates…that can be used within a site,…you can select from additional site templates…provided as part of MOS 2007,…and you can even set master pages used by sites.…
We're going to start in this lesson…by defining a new welcome page.…The welcome page is what you see…the first time you display a site,…so right here, you can see where it says,…Welcome to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007,…this is my homepage or my welcome page.…If I want to change this to something else, no problem,…but I do have to be at the very top level site,…so I'm clicking my Home tab to make sure…
