- So we've done all the updates, and we're at the point where we want to promote this machine to a domain controller. There's a couple of things that we're gonna want to do before we actually do that. The first thing is I'm gonna use this bar to restore down so that I get the menu on my Virtual Machine Connection. I'm just gonna double-check and make sure that I've got the 'Installation Media' still on the DVD drive. Now earlier I had ejected it, so if you have also ejected it like this, and you see something like just a blank screen that has 'Eject' grayed out, go ahead and click 'Insert Disk', browse to where it is. In my case it's in the 'InstallationNotes' folder, and re-hookup your ISO, just in case it may need some files from that 'Installation Media' while it goes through this process. Once that's done, I've got everything hooked up here, I'm gonna go ahead and shut this machine down. Gonna say Shut Down. And when the machines shut down, I'm gonna add in a virtual switch, I'm…
