- It's time to create the first Site Collection for this web application. So I'll come over here to Create site collections, and I'm going to create a Site Collection at the root. So when I type in http://intranet.sharepoint.pri in this environment it will take me to the home page of this Site Collection. So I'm gonna call this Portal, and I'm gonna leave it bound to the root there. And for the Portal I'm gonna click on the Publishing tab, and I'm gonna choose Publishing Portal as the template to base the top level site of this Site Collection on. Later on, as I'm building out the mock intranet portal, I'll give team sites in their own Site Collections to each of my mock departments. So I'm gonna to add myself, spadmin, as the Primary Site Collection Administrator. And I'll go ahead and put in my Spike which I created as just a regular old user, kinda like a test user, which is me, that I'll log into later. I'm gonna worry about attaching a Quota to Site Collections in my testing…
