Configuring the User Profile service application

- Well we're now going to try and get the User Profile Synchronization Service up and running so we can work with some of the social features and try them out in our environment. This is generally a challenging process so I'm going to try and walk through this and hope that I get everything right. First thing that I'm going to do is log into the Domain Controller. Which I am here, as the administrator. Hit the Windows Key and get to the Active Directory Administrative Center. From here, what I'm going to do is give the SharePoint Farm account a permission called replicating directory changes. This may not be exactly how things are set up in a production environment, it really depends on the person doing it and how they're doing it. But this is how we're going to try and do it here in this environment. So I'm going to right click SharePoint (local) here. Click properties, then I'm going to click on extensions, and down here I'm going to click Add spfarm. Check names, resolve, correct…
