Understanding and using pages
- [Instructor] Classic SharePoint gives you two options to choose from when creating a page, Wiki pages and Web Part pages. Let's start with the Wiki page. If we put this page in Edit mode you'll see that a Wiki page gives you freeform text blocks, which you can put content into. If you click the Format Text button you'll see a Text Layout option where you can change the layout of the page. You can type freeform text and insert Web Parts. Now let's take a look at a Web Part page. If we put this Web Part page in Edit mode you'll see that it's quite different. Web Part pages are organized into Web Part zones. In these zones you can add in different Web Parts. Web Part pages are typically more rigid than Wiki pages and they're usually used when you're using publishing and creating your own custom page layouts. If we click the Page button you'll see the Page Layout option where you can change the Page Layout that this Web Part page uses. This is where you would also select your custom…
