- [Instructor] Do you remember the song "Trash" by the New York Dolls? You know, "Trash, don't pick it up, don't take my heart away"? Eh, well, I'm dating myself again, but I do want to talk about trash, or at least I want to talk about the Recycle Bin. As you probably know, if you delete something in SharePoint online, it doesn't vanish right away. All deleted items go to the site's Recycle Bin for 93 days. Yes, I know that's an oddly specific number, but 93 it is. Now, after 93 days, the item disappears from the site's Recycle Bin, but at that point, it still exists in the Site collection recycle bin. So, User X deletes something, and realizes five months later that they really needed it. Well, no problem, you can still get it back for them. Now, the strange thing is that you don't do this from the Admin center, but from within the site, but only someone with Collection Admin access can do it.
