- [Instructor] It's not at all unusual for companies to be using more than one tool for data. For instance, your company may have HR and personnel data on one system, sales records on another, and manufacturing and supply chain information on a third. The challenge is in getting that data to be visible and usable between systems. After all, if you've already got information on sales in one place, wouldn't it be better to use that data inside the sales team's SharePoint site instead of recreating it? Wouldn't it be better to just have a single data set, instead of multiple ones that might not agree 100%? Well, the good news is that this is possible in SharePoint. There are actually a number of third-party solutions, but it's also possible using what Microsoft refers to as Business Connectivity Services, or BCS.
